Tajweed linguistically is the Arabic word and its meaning “proficiency” or making clear sound of every word. It means giving every letter of Qur’an its rights when we recite Quran. Each Arabic letter has a Makhraj (an exit or articulation point from which it originates) and Sifat (attributes or characteristics). Learning the Makhraj and Sifat of each letter is an important part of tajweed. Without rules of tajweed you cannot read Quran in the way it was revealed. It’s essential for all of us to learn Quran with the rules of tajweed.
